Greetings fellow Latvian Stamp Collectors, As many of you have noticed, I have begun the process of selling parts of my Latvian collection on Ebay and on my web site. I have started with Latvia #1 Map sheets and have completely sold out. These items have definitely gone up in value and will continue to do so for many years due to the uniqueness. If any one is interested, a fellow member has noted that Regency Stamps is offering over 290 of these at a nice starting bid of only $10,000. Link to http://www.regencystamps.com/public_auction.shtml for viewing. It is lot 3086. This is an amazing low starting bid, as many of you might realize. We shall see what the final price will be later this month. EBay information on Latvian Stamps. Lots on eBay for Search Latvia, Latvian, Lettland, Latvija, Livonia in the stamps area saw another tremendous increase of at times over 900 items and prices for items was the highest I have seen given the fact that there ware so many items. EBay continued to have a few days when posting lots were free or discounted and this had many dealers take advantage of the prices. These last few months saw some rare gems of Latvia philately for sale. The lots for January and February is back to about 400 lots and is a continuation from the previous months. The lot break down for February 27th was approximately as follows.
Highlights include the following:
I was able to attend the Riverside APS Stamp convention over last weekend and was somewhat disappointed. There seems to be less and less material related to Latvia. There were several dealers with items, but prices seem to be too high for the common items. Also, please send me any items you might have to put in the references section of the Latvian Web site. I am still looking for copies of the Latvian Collector 22 onward if anyone has these. I will reimburse for your shipping.
Lastly, I have been requested to note that there exists a Latvian forum on stamps. Dear fellow Baltic philatelists, Our forum has moved to a new home on my server. The address is www.forum.localstamps.com. Also please note that the webpage for the Society was created: www.baltic.localstamps.com. If you would like your site linked please email me. All the best, Anatoly
As usual let me know of what you think. If you do not wish to receive further email regarding the web page let me know and I will take you off the list. Please visit www.latvianstamps.com for more info and send this email to fellow Latvian stamp collectors.
